Book Review: Wait For You by J. Lynn

SYNOPSIS:
Some things are worth waiting for…
Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.
Some things are worth experiencing…
Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.
Some things should never be kept quiet…
But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?
And some things are worth fighting for…

MY REVIEW:
Well, for the first time ever, J. Lynn, you have disappointed me. I am totally obsessed with The Lux series and when I found out about these books, I was super happy to read them. I got this one on my kindle for 99 cents and it only took about five minutes for me to decide  I wasn't waiting to read it. I read it in less than a day. I flew through it... I'm going to start by saying throughout reading this book, I felt like I was reading a combination of Hopeless by Colleen Hoover, Easy by Tammara Webber and Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. So, the story plot didn't really jump out at me. And although I loved those books, I didn't want to keep reading the same thing. I just didn't think there was anything original about it besides the pick up lines and Cam's humor. I was hoping for more and didn't get it. I did, however, like the main characters. I loved Cam. I'm pretty sure he was my favorite character. His humor made me actually laugh out loud. The things I would do to that boy... Avery was an okay character. I just think she should have told Cam her secret sooner considering how she "trusted him" and all. I also didn't like how the book ended. It didn't really conclude anything with her parents or anything with her cousin (not that he was in it a whole lot). I also just feel that their relationship was instalove. Even though she didn't go on a date with him right away, I just felt the relationship moved fast. Overall, I gave this book a 3/5 stars.

Bout of Books 9.0: Update #1

Hey everyone! As you can see by the title, this is an update on how I have been doing this week on reading. To start off, I have had a huge advantage in this challenge. I was supposed to go back to school after a two week break on Monday and it has been delayed due to weather conditions. I have had three extra days off and have been spending them reading! Everyone says you're supposed to read smaller books throughout the week, but that wasn't in the cards for me. I am currently ending the Vampire Academy books right now and the last ones are HUGE. I have finished Spirit Bound (#5) and am currently reading Last Sacrifice (#6). I don't have any other books planned so I will be reading Last Sacrifice until the end of the readathon. It is almost 600 pages so I don't mind finishing it. I hope everyone is having a happy readathon!!

Page count so far: 570 pages

Bout of Books, 9.0!

All these posts in one day, Lauren? Yes, this many posts! I have to catch up on my blog! So, to continue the fun, I am doing the Bout of Books ReadAThon! Yay! As you know, I did this last summer and loved it! I am in school now, so I don't think I will be doing as many updates, but I try my hardest! It is snowing in my state, so tomorrow school is cancelled and that is the perfect way to start off my reading! Official blurb:

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 6th and runs through Sunday, January 12th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 9.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead--Its big so I hope to finish it throughout the week! If I finish this book, I will start on Last Sacrifice!

HAPPY READING! :)

Book Review: Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens

SYNOPSIS:
For almost two years now, Kiera's boyfriend, Denny, has been everything she's ever wanted: loving, tender and endlessly devoted to her. When they head off to a new city to start their lives together, Denny at his dream job and Kiera at a top-notch university, everything seems perfect. Then an unforeseen obligation forces the happy couple apart.
Feeling lonely, confused, and in need of comfort, Kiera turns to an unexpected source—a local rock star named Kellan Kyle. At first, he's purely a friend that she can lean on, but as her loneliness grows, so does their relationship. And then one night everything changes...and none of them will ever be the same.

MY REVIEW:
DEAR LORD. This is by far the worst book on my bookshelf right now. I totally wasted money on this book when I could have gotten another book that I was actually going to enjoy. I ASS-umed it was a good book because of the good reviews on Goodreads. The size of this book was just unnecessary.  I hated the main character, Kiera, throughout the ENTIRE book. Like the whole book. I'm not even exaggerating. She was constantly crying over the shit SHE caused and was always thinking about herself. Ugh, and then she was totally treating Denny like shit! I'm soooo glad he left her! She totally deserved everything that came to her. Well except maybe the kick to the temple... But Denny was right to leave her and so was Kellan! She continued to hurt him and hurt him and hurt him! Like, hello, you are such a little whore! I'm also glad he called her that too! I just feel that I didn't like this book because if I wasn't single and in a relationship, I would be 100% faithful. I guess its just different perspectives. Also, going back to the crying thing, I feel like she was crying all the time. I mean like, just talking to someone, she cried. And thinking about things, she cried. Sleeping, she cried. Like, dear god woman, how do you have any tears left?! I just feel like she was totally immature and selfish. I did not like this book at all. And after everything Kellan did, I just don't like his character. I guess in the end, they do belong together. Here's an award for worst couple ever... That's all I can say about this book right now. Im just fed up with it. I gave it a 1/5 stars.

Book Review: Dare You To by Katie McGarry

SYNOPSIS:
If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk's home life, they'd send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mom at all costs. Until the day her uncle swoops in and forces Beth to choose between her mom's freedom and her own happiness. That's how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn't want her and going to a school that doesn't understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn't get her, but does....
Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock-with secrets he can't tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the Skater girl who couldn't be less interested in him.
But what begins as a dare becomes an intense attraction neither Ryan nor Beth expected. Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image risks his dreams-and his life-for the girl he loves, and the girl who won't let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all....

MY REVIEW:
Holy shitness. I freaking loved this book. It was just as good if not better than Pushing The Limits. I read this book on my Kindle so it didn't take me long to read. It was also my first read of the New Year! Good way to start off right? Anyway, I loved this book. At first I didn't like it because Beth kept swearing at her own uncle, but then I understood where she was coming from. I felt so bad for her because of her home life but then she was always considering getting her mom. Like, wth!? You complain about having a shitty home life but then you continually want to go back to it? But then I ALSO understood that her mom gave up her father to take care of her. Which, hello, you should always take care of you children before your dumbass husband (in her case). I also didn't like Ryan's mom and dad. I'm glad Beth forced him to go talk to his brother. He never would have if she didn't push him to do it. How can you side with your jerk of a dad when he doesn't let you visit your brother? Especially when he probably needs you to help him get through this? What kind of girl are you?! I'm glad Ryan hit him because, my god, if he didn't do it, I would have stopped reading the freaking book! I loved Ryan and Beth's relationship. I knew how their attitudes would change towards each other. That part I totally saw coming. It was just a light, fun read. I also didn't like the parts when Beth kept saying all guys are the same, everyone leaves. I get that now after Ive read it. She has never had anyone to actually stay in her life before. I liked how she and Scott made up though and how much he cares for her. I cant wait to read the third book! I NEED IT! I gave this book a 5/5 stars.
